A new addition to the H&R Block roster this year is Peter Disera. Primarily a mountain biker, Peter will be racing for H&R Block Pro Cycling and the Norco Factory Team. He started racing mountain bikes in 2007, and started on the road in 2011. Since then, Peter has achieved some substantial results including Junior National Champion in XC Mountain Bike, Individual Time Trial, Criterium, and Cyclo-cross, as well as winning the Mont Ste. Anne XC MTB World Cup and a second place finish at Mountain Bike World Championships. Besides cycling, Peter enjoys XC skiing, DH skiing, soccer, the outdoors and rock climbing. He is currently enrolled at the University of Guelph in Water Resources Engineering. He enjoys school and hopes to one day become a professional engineer. Peter currently resides in Horseshoe Valley when not attending university, which is a fantastic location for any cycling enthusiast. The Copeland forest in Horseshoe Valley houses an abundance of mountain bike trails where he spends most of his time training. Moving away from the dirt, the roads around the area offer great variety for training, from climbing ski hills to flat countryside to rolling cottage country roads.
Balancing between road racing and mountain biking is a challenge. Road demands lots of endurance, pain tolerance and sustained power while mountain biking demands explosive power, technical skills and a ‘blow your legs off’ mentality. Peter believes the balance between the two makes him the all around cyclist type. Peter is not only looking forward to racing with H&R Block Pro Cycling this season but also to learning from the more experienced riders on the team and expand his experiences racing. This season is going to be an exciting one!
