Vancouver, BC – Adam de Vos wins the U25 competition at San Dimas Stage Race in San Dimas, CA, USA.
The H&R Block Pro Cycling Team is focused on bringing the best U25 riders in Canada together and this past weekend the team showed that they are one of the best U25 teams in North America by winning the U25 leaders jersey at the San Dimas stage race in San Dimas, CA. USA.
Contested over 3 stages; an uphill TT, a difficult Circuit Road Race and a fast downtown Criterium, the team knew they had to open with a strong TT performance. Adam de Vos did this with a 7th place in overall General Classification (GC), along with Stuart Wight and Peter Disera placing 19th and 21st respectively with close times. This gave the team confidence to be aggressive in the upcoming Road Race.
The following day the team made their mark on the race, establishing brakes and riding together as a team, rallying around Adam to keep him near the front the entire race. This resulted in an 11th place finish on the day and moved Adam up to 5th on GC. Early on in the race Nathan Elliott and Stuart became victim to bad timed flat tires. Without this unfortunate event, the team would have had two extra strong riders contesting for the win.
In the final Criterium, the team once again took control placing Adam and Peter into the early break representing 2 out of 6 riders. Peter commented, “This was intended to put pressure on the other GC contenders and cause their teams to use their matches to chase. It also allowed Adam to ride with less stress of positioning in the pack”. The break was eventually brought back and when the dust settled Peter was 13th and Travis Samuel close behind in 16th. Adam’s strong overall weekend effort moved him up again to 4th overall, but more importantly he captured the white leaders jersey for best Under 25 rider on GC. Adam said after the race, “This is my first real leaders jersey win and I am beyond excited! The team rode fantastic all weekend to help me achieve this and to finish in the young rider (white leaders jersey) is incredible”.
Next up for the team is the Redlands Cycling Classic before the entire team comes together for the Sea Otter Classic. For a closer view of the teams partner products see the fun interactive 360* rider icon on the home page.
